Moulding Expo Stuttgart will celebrate its première in 2015

International trade fair for prototyping, tool and mould making to take place every two years

Messe Stuttgart is expanding its product portfolio in the area of industry trade fairs with Moulding Expo Stuttgart. The international trade fair for prototyping, tool and mould making will celebrate its première next spring (5 – 8 May 2015) and thereafter will take place in Stuttgart every two years.

The concept for the new trade fair was developed and agreed with the relevant industry companies of the economically strong industry (turnover of 8.8 billion Euro in 2012). Moulding Expo Stuttgart is supported by the three most important associations: German Engineering Federation (VDMA), German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) and German Tool Construction and Mouldmaking Association (VDWF). These industry associations are conceptual and professional supporters of the new international trade fair.

“The concept of Moulding Expo has a clear focus and the trade fair is aimed at tool, model and mould making companies and the corresponding users – for example from the automotive industry, medical technology and the plastics industry. In the future new technologies and high-performance materials will be presented in Stuttgart every two years”, is how Ulrich Kromer, President of Messe Stuttgart, explains the new event.

The know-how and expertise of tool and mould making companies is always required when products are manufactured. “The industry is the interface between a product idea, the design and the finished product”, states Kromer. “Tool and mould making plays a key role as a supplier, in particular also for the strong automotive industry and the medical technology industry in Baden-Württemberg. “Moulding Expo takes place here in a location that is key to markets”, adds the head of Messe Stuttgart.

“In terms of productivity, quality and complexity, the German tool and mould making companies are still in top position. However, to maintain this leading position is a challenge in light of international competition which is gaining ground and it is only possible to cope with this challenge through cooperative ventures and networks between several companies. The new trade fair on tool making is the ideal platform here”, explains Markus Heseding, President of the VDMA Precision Tools Association.

“Tool and mould making”, states Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, President of the VDW, “places high requirements on production. In addition to the classic procedures turning, milling or eroding, additive procedures will also play an important role in the future. Moulding Expo will be the central platform for this area in the future. Our cooperative venture with RapidTech for METAV 2014 in Düsseldorf is already addressing the topic. We will also expand the presentation of tool and mould making in 2016 in Düsseldorf, as a platform for northern Germany. Moulding Expo is an optimal addition here.”
Tool and mould making companies are required more and more to gain competitive advantages and tap rationalisation potential, adds VDWF President Heiko Semrau: “New technologies and high-performance tools play an equally decisive role as the proper strategic alignment of the actual company. Moulding Expo Stuttgart will provide answers to the central questions and at the same time is an ideal platform for tool and mould making companies to be seen by potential customers.”

Moulding Expo Stuttgart is divided into two exhibition areas: firstly, classic tool and mould making with forming and prototype tools, gauge and fixture construction, which is very user-oriented; secondly, the area of manufacturers and systems for tool and mould making (metal cutting machine tools and precision tools, other material removal machines, touch-up and test presses, machines for surface treatment, welding machines, hot runner systems).

“With Moulding Expo”, states Thomas Walter, Vice President, Industrial Solutions at Messe Stuttgart, “we are establishing the central international platform for the industry in the uneven years together with the three associations, in addition to the exciting plans of the VDW in Düsseldorf.  In Stuttgart Moulding Expo is an excellent supplement to AMB, the international exhibition for metal-working, and rounds off our portfolio perfectly.”
