CATS 2014 provides information on current research and development trends in the field of joining and assembly technology

The Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU, together with the International Academy for Production Engineering CIRP, is inviting guests to Dresden for a specialist conference from November 13–14, 2014.

The focus of the “5th CIRP Conference on Assembly Technologies and Systems” CATS 2014 is on current research and development trends in joining and assembly technology. Energy-efficient and material-efficient technologies, innovative hybrid and composite materials, and the need for increasingly flexible production systems are significant drivers of development in this field.

The conference program will offer solutions for sustainable production and green transportation along the entire process chain. Key topics on the first day of the conference will include innovative joining processes, new approaches in joining and assembly technology, concepts for process and factory planning, and current research results with regard to human-machine cooperation. The second day of the event is to focus on quality testing, design engineering, and IT solutions. Other key topic areas will provide participants with an overview of current research and development trends within the aviation industry, the increase in the energy efficiency of robot-assisted assembly processes, and the automated production and disassembly of battery systems.

A special highlight for all participants at the international conference: On the evening before the first day of the event, Fraunhofer IWU Dresden will open the doors of its testing grounds. Live presentations on current research projects will set the stage for CATS 2014.
